Fix OEM cone failures • 4× stronger locking • Street, track & drift ready
The Mazda RX-8 and MX-5 are true driver’s cars, but their factory Limited Slip Differentials (LSDs) share the same weakness: small friction cones pushed by weak springs. In the Mazda RX-8 Super LSD and MX-5 NB/NC Fuji LSD, these cones wear or break quickly – even on low-mileage cars – causing loss of traction and inconsistent locking.
RacingDiffs developed two dedicated upgrade kits, each tailored to the exact dimensions of your LSD type, replacing the fragile cone design with a proper clutch-based performance solution.
Note: These kits are for clutch-type Super / Fuji LSD units – not for Torsen differentials.
Both OEM LSDs use tiny friction cones behind the spider gears, preloaded by weak springs. These cones are the Achilles’ heel of the design – they:
Our upgrade kits remove the cones entirely and replace them with proper clutch plates, stronger springs and preload shims, turning the LSD into a reliable, performance-oriented unit.
The result is up to 4× better performance and vastly improved reliability compared to the stock cone-based design.

If you are unsure which LSD type your car has, you can:
Recommended for owners who demand consistent traction and predictable locking behavior on road, track or drift events.
Result: Your RX-8 or MX-5 finally gets the LSD performance it deserves.
