Fix OEM cone failures • 4× stronger locking • Street, track & drift ready
The Mazda RX-8 and Mazda MX-5 NB are true driver’s cars, but their factory Limited Slip Differentials can share one major weakness: small friction cones pushed by weak springs. In the Mazda RX-8 Super LSD and selected Mazda MX-5 NB Fuji LSD units, these cones can wear or break, causing loss of traction, weak preload and inconsistent locking.
RacingDiffs developed dedicated upgrade kits for these LSD types, replacing the fragile cone design with a proper clutch-based performance solution. Each variant is tailored to the exact dimensions of its LSD unit, so please select the correct version for your application.
Important: RX-8 and MX-5 NB versions are similar in concept, but they are not the same kit. Always choose the correct variant before ordering.
The OEM Super / Fuji LSD design uses small friction cones behind the spider gears, preloaded by relatively weak springs. These cones are the Achilles’ heel of the design – they:
Our upgrade removes the weak cone-based friction system and replaces it with proper clutch plates, stronger springs and preload shims, turning the OEM LSD into a more reliable, performance-oriented unit.
The result is up to 4× better performance and vastly improved reliability compared to the stock cone-based design.

Recommended for owners who demand consistent traction, stronger preload and predictable locking behavior on road, track or drift events.
Result: Your RX-8 or MX-5 NB gets the LSD performance it should have had from factory.
