You wish to be able to do burnouts without paying $1000+ for LSD?
Burnout originally comes from drag racing, where it has a very practical purpose - to warm up tires before the start. Besides that it is extremely popular among sports car drivers and automotive lovers. They are contents in burnout in certain BMW meets and such and you can tell that YouTube and social media is loaded with videos about burnout.
According to Wikipedia, aburnout(also known as apeel outorpower brake) is the practice of keeping a vehicle stationary and spinning its wheels, the resultantfrictioncausing thetiresto heat up and smoke.
No matter if your car is FWD or RWD, you need a LSD (Limited Slip Differential) to do a proper burnout. Otherwise you will get what is called a one-wheel-peel, which is very unpopular. In other words, if you don't have LSD, only 1 wheel will spin during your attempt to perform burnout and your diff will probably break down.
LSD conversion kit is designed for street drivers who wish to have fun with their car and don't have Limited slip diff from the factory (BMW E46, E92etc.). And we all know how expensive aftermarket units are. The cheapest option is 1000 USD, plus you have the expense of new bearing which are not included in the package. And there is backlash adjustment, gear contact check which complicates installation procedure raising the labor cost significantly.
On the other hand, LSD conversion kit is less than $300. Installation procedure is very simple: no backlash adjustments, no need for new bearings. Just remove carrier unit, insert the conversion kit in the space between spider gears and return carrier unit as it was. The good think is that you can remove it whenever you want and get your car back to stock.
It enables all cool features such as burnouts, drifts, donuts etc. Besides that, it gives you much better control in slippery conditions, especially snow. It is designed for everyday usage, so it is very smooth. It doesn't create unpleasant sounds and vibrations like the most of aftermarket LSD units. You will barely notice that you have it until you need it.
